NYC gets its own “Housewives, with better wigs” as “Queens of Drag” series debuts online

A gay adult-film producer is launching a reality show about NYC drag queens.

John Rutherford describes his new docu-series as “like a Housewives show, but our cast has better wigs,”according to an official press release.

Queens of Drag: NYC, set to debut on Gay.com Sept. 8, was developed by Rutherford and co-executive producers Larry Kennar (The L Word, Barbershop, 50 First Dates) and Jack Mackenroth (Project Runway, Season 4). (more…)

Catholic adoption agency can’t discriminate against gay couples, UK ruling says

Seems like all the good news on equal rights is coming from elsewhere these days.

Take this nugget from the UK, which lifted our spirits this morning:

“A Catholic adoption advisory service that refuses to help gay couples cannot win an exemption from anti-discrimination laws, Britain’s charity regulator said Thursday”, the Associated Press reports today. (more…)

Gay-themed resort to open in Midtown – including 14,000-sf “dance bar”

A long-vacant space at the western end of 42nd Street is about to become the gay-themed Out NYC Urban Resort, a “$30 million, 90,000-square-foot complex… to have restaurants and bars, a spa, a reception hall, retail stores and a huge seven-nights-a-week dance club, along with a 127-room Axel Hotel.”

Higher inheritance tax on gay couples is illegal, German high court rules

We can all add Germany to the list of anywhere-but-here places to move for equal rights.

Germany’s highest court yesterday ruled a law which makes same-sex couples in civil partnerships pay higher inheritance tax is unconstitutional, Reuters reports. (more…)
