Next Fall, a gay-themed romance that was a hit at Playwrights’ Horizons last year, makes a giant leap to Broadway today.
Reviews are mixed, but the critics agree on one thing: “This six-character play that focuses on a relationship between an atheist and a committed Christian faces a challenge to find its audience in the current climate.”

Interesting question. It’s definitely a tough one. I think the play has a good possibility of doing well. First, real New York theater enthusiasts will come out to see it. After that, I think it’ll be word of mouth that will get people, telling them it’s a really funny play and a good story, and that’ll get the rest of the crowds in. I think the work is really dramatic, but the play does have a LOT of laughs. Comedy always draws people in.
