U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has just released an opinion refusing to block D.C.’s same-sex marriage law, which takes effect today.
Opponents of the law had asked the Supreme Court to step in and issue a temporary delay so they could hold a city-wide referendum on the issue before the law took effect.
The Washington Post this morning reports that DC Superior Court is preparing for scores of couples who plan on exercising their new rights.
Roberts’ decision can be read here. More at CBSNews blog Crossroads.
