Now back to our regularly scheduled blog:
HBO just scored the highest ratings.
But not that way.
According to a report released today, HBO scored highest among 15 TV networks for portrayals of gay characters last season.
GLAAD‘s doing the rating.
GLAAD “found that of HBO’s 14 original prime-time series, 10 included content reflecting the lives of gay, bisexual and transgender people.
“That totaled 42 percent of the network’s programming hours, in series such as ‘True Blood,’ ‘Entourage’ and ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.’”
That’s Nelsan Ellis as True Blood “short-order cook/drug dealer/wannabe Internet porn sensation” Lafayette, above (tip of the hat to TV.gay.com).
“By contrast, on NBC and CBS only 8 percent and 5 percent, respectively, of prime-time hours included them,” the report said.
It’s all in the third annual GLAAD Network Responsibility Index.
