Big-company ads in gay media don’t feel like a big deal today. But three decades ago, when Joe DiSabato launched Rivendell Media, corporate advertising in LGBT publications was almost unthinkable. The company celebrates its 30th anniversary this month. “Rivendell was the first to ‘professionalize’ the idea of media going after the ad market for numerous publications,” says Mark Segal, publisher and founder of Philadelphia Gay Community News (PGN). “No one ever thought of that before.” More at MileHighGayGuy.
